The Art in Transit Program is a part of WMATA, the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. The program brings visual and performing arts into the heart of the Metro system, by displaying art in public places within the Metro system. There are stations and facilities that span Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The program connects customers, neighborhoods, and artists through permanent and temporary art installations, live performances, and community-driven projects shaped by a wide range of artistic perspectives that enrich the transit experience.
